Program Overview

Politics

Are you disillusioned with the state of our politics and society? Do you want to make a difference in your community and the world? Our Politics degree is taught by experts and high-profile political practitioners, and will equip you with ability to effect meaningful political change, and with the transferable skills that employers are looking for.

Skills of clear-sighted political analysis are needed more than ever before, as our traditional political ‘certainties’ crumble and as our world is faced with persistent injustices and new challenges. Our Politics degree situates the big issues of the day in their historical and philosophical contexts. You’ll explore continuity and change in local, national and global dimensions of politics, and scrutinise political ideas, structures and approaches that will help you to understand and address our complex, and ever-changing circumstances.

Through our Making Politics Matter series, we regularly invite high-profile guest speakers, including politicians, to debate the issues of the day with our students and the general public. Staff and students work together to organise these events, providing another opportunity to enhance networking and employability skills.

You’ll develop skills in critical thought and analysis, working as part of a team, networking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely. This will help you to enter roles in a variety of sectors such as national or local government, non-governmental organisations, business and finance, journalism or teaching.

Psychology

Psychology seeks to understand thoughts, emotions and behaviour through scientific study. Explore this fascinating subject on a course that has employability embedded within it from start to finish.

You’ll gain insight into the practical application of psychology and build a broad range of academic, personal and careers skills. Our degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), ensuring quality and giving you the opportunity to gain the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Your Christ Church Psychology degree is a great springboard into a career in the caring professions, education, business and management, or other people-focused occupations.
