Program Overview
Follow your passion and study Film Production at Canterbury Christ Church University. With a practice-based, dynamic Film Production degree, you’ll kickstart your career with the vital skills and knowledge you need to propel your prospects in the film and television industry.
We appreciate that you want to learn hands-on, so our Film Production degree is designed to give you 70% practical experience with 30% theory. By choosing to study film production at university, you’ll develop both technical and creative skills as you create your own film productions, giving you with the opportunity to showcase your talents and gain in-depth knowledge.
Develop confidence in using a range of high-spec, industry-standard equipment, including digital cameras, such as: Blackmagic Pocket, Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro and the spectacular Arri-Alexa Mini LF. The Arri-Alexa is an outstanding piece of kit, used in a range of acclaimed films, including popular hits and award winning productions such as Empire of Light (Mendes, 2022), Deadpool & Wolverine (Levy, 2024) and Dune: Part 2 (Villeneuve, 2024).
You can also take advantage of our modern facilities; from our very own professional TV studio and TV gallery to our multi-functional studio, green screens, lighting, and teaching spaces. The facilities and equipment we have on offer at CCCU will allow you to experience the art of filmmaking at the highest standard.
As a film student, you'll hear directly from a range of industry speakers, many of whom come from our extensive alumni network, who have gained experience working across the industry. Previous speakers have come to us from NBC Universal, BBC, Halo, Envy, Molinare, ITV Studios, Netflix, Warner Bros/Discovery. You will also hear from freelancers that specialise in a range of craft areas such as assistant directing, sound design, and production design.
We know employers are looking for dynamic, open-minded graduates who can adapt, innovate, and collaborate. So we have designed a new way of teaching and learning to ensure that you are work-ready for when you graduate.
