Health and wellbeing are everyone’s concern, and improving health and wellbeing for individuals and communities is a complex and dynamic process, involving a range of professionals.  The roles range from working with people to support positive lifestyles and better well being, through to tackling health inequalities where people don’t all begin life with the same prospects. If you’re passionate about people and wellbeing, you can study to play your part in providing support for people of all ages and backgrounds, and be part of helping communities move towards better wellbeing.

In Year 1, you study modules focused on health, social care and community as well as Models of Wellbeing and Global Issues in Community Health.

Year 2 introduces new modules on Community and Change, Emotional Health and Wellbeing, Lifespan Development, and Researching Wellbeing.

Your final year features compulsory modules in Public Health in the 21st Century, Exploring Behaviour Change and Lifestyle, Developing Healthy Communities and Funding and Commissioning. Having built up an understanding of the core research methods and taught modules, you undertake a dissertation on a topic of your choice; this is a significant piece of independent research supported by expert supervision.

Opportunities for gaining field experience in Years 2 and 3 will provide you with an applied aspect to learning in addition to opportunities to link knowledge and practice. Taught modules will draw upon and enhance these experiences.
