Master of Science in Policing and Law Enforcement Investigation

Program Overview

Immersing you in the management of serious and complex case investigations carried out by the police and other law enforcement agencies, this taught Masters degree provides a valuable and highly rewarding learning experience. Ideal for serving police officers and police staff who perform support and lead roles within the areas of intelligence and investigation, the course will also appeal to members of other law enforcement agencies who have, or aspire to hold, responsibility for managing investigations. It is also suitable for recent graduates seeking a career in this area. You will learn the practical and theoretical skills and techniques needed to conduct and manage high level police and law enforcement investigations. This will involve exploring the different strategies that contribute to an overarching investigation plan, including forensic, witnesses and scene management, underpinned by the development of advanced research skills. With opportunities to explore areas including investigative interviewing, ethical issues in law enforcement, as well as the use of intelligence in reactive and proactive investigations, and digital policing and cybercrime, you will also develop key transferable skills including oral and written communication, critical analysis, time management, teamwork and applied problem solving.
