Bachelor of Science in Finance

Program Overview

The B.S. in Finance major degree program prepares students for successful careers in the dynamic finance industry. Students will be prepared to work in private, public, and nonprofit organizations such as commercial banking, financial planning, investment banking, money managing, insurance and real estate. Finance students develop a foundation for financial management in a variety of settings.

Program Features

  • Personal Finance students can prepare for the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exam by completing a seven-course CFP Certificate program. This coursework is embedded into the curriculum, and has been developed in collaboration with other colleges to provide a strong foundation in all aspects of financial literacy, planning, security, and management. The courses are registered under the CFP Board of Standards and are offered in a convenient online format.
  • Students are taught to analyze financial data, value financial and real assets, and provide financial advice to individuals and companies making decisions about allocating scarce resources in a global environment.
  • The Finance major offers students various project-focused service-learning opportunities. Students are highly encouraged to take a Service Learning course such as SVL108, Tax Volunteer.
  • The Internship program provides a capstone work experience for all Finance students during their senior year.
  • Students in the Longe School of Business gain networking and job opportunities through the Advisory Board that helps ensure that our curriculum aligns with the in-demand skills employers are looking for to meet industry needs and trends.
