Carroll University’s informational technology major prepares you for a career in a field that has consistently ranked among the top ten most in demand occupations in the U.S. in recent years. Our program balances theory and practice, and focuses on developing the problem-solving skills you’ll need to keep pace in a field characterized by rapid technological change. You’ll become an expert in computer hardware, database design, server administration, website development, computer networks and security, information and project management. You’ll also explore specific technology areas while learning to address real-world business opportunities and challenges, both in advanced lab classes and through internships. Our program provides students with additional experience in management principles, computational thinking and business communication.
You can focus your studies on areas such as web development, computer networking, information systems or information technology. You’ll develop skills for employment in areas such as: web application development, business and social applications and computer networking, information systems, computer science, information technology or game development.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
