Program Overview
The 34-week WIST Pre-Apprenticeship Carpenter General certificate program will equip students who wish to make a career in the construction industry as a general carpenter with the basic skills required to secure a position as an apprentice, and to work safely and successfully in the industry. The curriculum provides the student with basic-level apprentice training and also provides additional skills designed to increase the student's general level of knowledge about the construction and renovation industry, thus increasing their value to prospective employers. In addition, the program incorporates components not found in the basic-level training, such as job search and communication skills and training in computer literacy and various computer applications.
