Program Overview

The Personal Support Worker program is an undergraduate program offered at CIMT, Scarborough that extends for a period of 7 months. It is a comprehensive program that deals with training students to work with families and provide them any kind of assistance required to lead a wholesome life personally and within the community as well. Throughout the course of this program, students are required to develop emotional sensitivity, mental stability and an intrinsic respect for the clients. Certain personal support workers delve into a number of activities for their clients such as personal care and hygiene, household and family management, meal preparation, assisting clients with their medications and restorative activities.

A number of employment doors open up for students after graduating from this program namely personal care provider, client care attendant or personal support worker in long-term care facilities, retirement homes or in the community care facilities.
