Certificate in Media Foundation

Program Overview

Are you passionate about media and looking for a unique program that will allow you to find the right career path?

At Humber Polytechnic’s Media Foundation program, you will develop creative media skills through hands-on learning in our labs and studios. You will design, capture, and edit images with the Adobe Suite; learn about the tools of film making through viewing, capturing video, and editing your own short films; and use our broadcast television simulation studio to experience the production of live content with current technology. In the second semester, you will customize your learning by selecting elective courses that build on your skills, and you will learn how to become a branded, freelance media maker. Throughout the program, our professors will guide you through dynamic creative projects and assignments designed to help you gain the practical skills and confidence you need to make the right choice for your future. Media Foundation is inclusive and accessible—no matter your background, you belong here.

Pathways
Media Foundation offers transfer credits for a number of FMCAD diploma programs. As well, students who do not have university English, but who receive a 65% in their WRIT course in the first semester of Media Foundation, will meet the requirements needed to apply to many degree programs at Humber.

Support
A core value in Media Foundation is accessibility. We believe all students should have the opportunity to learn, and we will work with you to help you succeed. If you feel that you would be better suited to part-time study, please contact the program co-ordinator who will help you make a plan for completion over two years.
