Foundation in Business
The Foundation Programme is designed for students who either do not meet the requirements for direct BSc entry (level of English, school qualifications, etc.) or would like to gain additional confidence and skills in their subject area and general academic practice prior to the start of their degree course.

The Foundation Programme in Business provides an introduction to the academic disciplines of Economics, Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing, as well as their overlaps and interfaces, and guarantees progression to BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BSc (Hons) Business Management BSc (Hons) Business Management with Business Analytics, BSc (Hons) Business Management with Accounting and Finance, or BSc (Hons) Business Management and Media (subject to meeting the required criteria).

Progression to: BSc (Honours) Accounting and Finance

You will learn from leading academic researchers and expert practitioners in finance, investing and accounting. The degree provides the perfect blend of theory and practice, taking you to the heart of key questions around the nature of business performance, price/earnings ratios, accountancy skills, investment strategies and case studies.

Throughout your degree, we encourage you to pursue your interests, develop your strengths, and move towards your ideal career. To enable that, this degree programme is highly flexible, letting you specialise your studies based on your strengths and interests.

In your first year, you’ll study accounting and finance using real-world data from actual companies. You will also discover more about economic issues such as inflation, costs and pricing. You will also get advice on how to build your CV.

Second year core subjects include accounting information systems and auditing, financial accounting, risk, corporate finance and management accounting for business decisions.

Your third year builds on this knowledge with advanced modules such as advanced management accounting and International Financial and Risk Management.

At the end of your time with us, you will be equipped to work in the fields of finance and accounting, and be ready to progress your studies with further, required professional examinations. Lancaster University graduates have gone on to work for Big Four accounting firms, international consulting firms, blue-chip corporations, and global banks and hedge funds.

We offer a limited number of merit-based foundation year scholarships to students with excellent performance at high school level. Who is eligible to apply? Students whose high school qualification is insufficient for direct entry into our bachelor’s degrees.

BSc (Hons) Merit Scholarship - October 2025 intake
Applicants for BSc direct entry (year one) with the following academic performance in their final high school degree (A-Level, IB, GSCE or equivalent) are eligible for our merit-based scholarship.

Family Scholarship
Lancaster University Leipzig offers Family Scholarships for siblings, spouses or children/parents studying concurrently at Lancaster University Leipzig. This is an automatic €1,000 reduction of the entry year tuition for each first-degree family member.

Combining Scholarship Awards: Scholarships cannot be combined, except for the Lancaster Sanctuary Scholarship.
Payment of the scholarship: The award will be automatically deducted from your tuition fee invoice, issued approximately 8 weeks after the start of classes.

Note: The deposit fee is calculated based on the full tuition fee (excluding the granted scholarship). Deposits are fully refundable up to the official enrolment date.

The Scholarship is not available as a cash alternative.

This scholarship is available to international fee-paying students who hold Conditional or Unconditional Offer for our Pre-Master’s programmes for October 2025 intake.

Note: This Scholarship is for applicants joining Lancaster University Leipzig in October 2025.
