Undergraduate Scholarships Regional scholarship • Limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis. • Applicable to International Direct, International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program enrollments. • A personal statement or scholarship interview may be required for some regions. Progression scholarship • Successful completion of International Direct, International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program and matriculate to Hofstra. • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 on International Direct, International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program to qualify for $4,000-$10,000 per year. • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.75 on International Direct, International Year One or Undergraduate Transfer Program to qualify for $8,000- $13,000 per year. • Maintain consecutive enrollment at Hofstra as a full-time, degree-seeking student in an approved undergraduate program. • Renewable as long as the student remains in good academic standing, maintaining a GPA of 3.0+. Scholarship and Merit Awards • No scholarship application is required since qualified applicants are automatically considered. • Applicable to full-time first year Direct Entry undergraduate international enrollments. • Awarded based on holistic review of the information supplied on the admission application. • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0+ and 1150 SAT score (or 23 ACT), or a minimum GPA of 3.5+ without standardized test scores. • Award amount varies based on GPA and standardized test scores. Direct MS in Computer Science scholarship • Total scholarship award is $15,000 over the three-semester program ($5,000 per semester). • This scholarship is only applicable to Direct Entry (DE) MS in Computer Science students. • Must pay $200 tuition deposit by the confirmation deadline. • Must maintain good academic standing during the program. • Award is only available for students starting in Fall 2025. |

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
