Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Program Overview

At SUNY Poly, we are excited to pursue and contribute to the interdisciplinary field of psychological science.

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behavior. The psychology program at SUNY Poly provides a broad coverage of the different subfields within the discipline, including neuroscience, clinical psychology, lifespan development, social psychology, and cognition. With an emphasis on empirical research, our classes focus on how emerging studies in psychology improve basic knowledge and provide practical applications to everyday life and real-world situations.

Undergraduate Programs
The program in psychology leads to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. The program also offers a minor in psychology. SUNY Poly undergraduate students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on research with faculty members, as well as gain experience in clinical field work in the community.

Opportunities
Our flexible and diverse coursework, combined with our practicum and supervised research opportunities, allow students to focus on classes and applied learning experiences that are particularly relevant to their goals and career aspirations post-graduation.

Placement
Graduates in psychology find employment in the areas of mental health, human services, social work, counseling, personnel administration, marketing, research and statistics, teaching, and business. Many also pursue graduate programs in psychology or allied fields.
